Daniil Egorov, the Commissioner of the Federal Tax Service of Russia (FTS), and Edgar Benia, the Minister of Taxes and Duties of the Republic of Abkhazia, signed an agreement under which the Russian Federation will provide grant-based technical assistance to help improve Abkhazia’s tax administration system.
Daniil Egorov noted that the modernization of tax administration systems is essential for the sustainable economic development and for creating a transparent and predictable business environment.
As part of the cooperation, the Russian side will provide the tax authority of the Republic of Abkhazia with cash register equipment, and, together with partners, will develop and implement an Analytical VAT Platform and an Online Cash Register System. In addition, the parties will prepare a concept for improving real estate taxation in the Republic of Abkhazia.
Edgar Benia expressed his gratitude to the Russian side for comprehensive cooperation in the field of tax administration, highlighting the coordinated work of the Federal Tax Service of Russia’s team.
The Commissioners also noted that the signing of the agreement will expand cooperation between the tax authorities and help strengthen long-term and mutually beneficial collaboration between the two countries.
