Tax authorities of Russia and Greece have signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Technical Cooperation in Tax Administration

Within the Joint Russian-Greek Commission on Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, the Heads of the Federal Tax Service of Russia and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue of the Hellenic Republic D. Egorov and G. Pitsilis signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Technical Cooperation in Tax Administration.

Memorandum has become the result of the six-month cooperation between tax administrations, based on agreements reached at the meeting of Prime Ministers of Russia and Greece M. Mishustin and K. Mitsotakis on March 24-25, 2021.

In 2021, representatives of the FTS of Russia held several videoconference meetings with Greek colleagues, where the parties shared the latest developments in the digitalization of tax administration processes. FTS of Russia presented VAT Automated Control System, Online Cash Register system, digital tax regime for self-employed and several interactive services.

Greek colleagues presented the «MyDATA» platform for collecting income and expenses data of taxpayers online.

Colleagues also presented their experience in revenue control gained by the taxpayers from e-commerce. Greek application «Short-term Property Registry» allows to monitor short-term rental in Greece made via internet platforms.

The parties also exchanged their experience of the implemented measures to support business and citizens in the context of COVID-19.

As a result of the videoconferences, the parties decided to develop the above Memorandum.

The Memorandum is an important stage in the development of bilateral relations between tax administrations in the field of tax administration and will allow consolidating further areas of knowledge and experience exchange in tax administration and the mutual use of cutting-edge digital technologies.
