First meeting of BRICS Working Group on VAT Modernization was held virtually on July 11, 2024, bringing together the participants of tax authorities from Russia, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, China. Egypt, Ethiopia and Iran.
The Working Group is co-leaded by South African Revenue Service and Iranian National Tax Administration. South African Revenue Service presented the objectives of the Working Group, scope of the project on VAT Modernization and deliverables that the Working group is going to achieve.
The project on VAT Modernization is aimed at deepening cooperation and enhancing the exchange of practical knowledge, thus providing valuable insights to the BRICS tax officials and increasing tax administrations’ capacity building in modernization of VAT administration. The Working Group is dedicated to the development of guidance for capability enhancement and global cooperation in VAT modernization, creating an opportunity for ongoing collaboration and continuous improvement around the theme of VAT Modernization.
