Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2024

From May 14 to 19, 2024, Kazan served as a key hub for international economic cooperation, hosting the forum "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2024." As part of the event, the Federal Tax Service organized a panel session on topic of Integrating Client-Centric Principles into Public Administration.

The session brought together tax officials from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan in person, while representatives from Belarus and Tajikistan joined the event via video conference. Julia Shepeleva, Deputy Commissioner of the FTS of Russia, emphasized the forum’s significance in fostering international collaboration and advancing joint initiatives. Marat Safiullin, Head of the Regional Directorate of the FTS of Russia in the Republic of Tatarstan, highlighted the region’s contribution to national economic development and its key industries. Alina Galeeva, Head of the Organizational Development and UX/UI Directorate, FTS of Russia, outlined strategic plans for expanding international cooperation and exchange of best practices.

During the session, participants shared their experience on the digitalization of tax administration, enhancing communication, and understanding taxpayer needs. The event also welcomed representatives from the Analytical Center under the Government of the Russian Federation, the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), and the business community.

Together with innovative digital tax administration solutions, the FTS of Russia and JSC "GNIVC" showcased technical support programs for foreign tax authorities. The exhibition included an educational simulation game that illustrated the self-employment registration process as well as an interactive analytical center.

Additionally, FTS Russia engaged in discussions with diplomatic and financial representatives from Pakistan, Guinea-Bissau, Bahrain, Bangladesh, the UAE, Nigeria, Afghanistan, and ICESCO, exploring prospects for cooperation and knowledge exchange in digital tax administration.

KazanForum 2024 gathered delegates from over 80 countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Nigeria, and the CIS nations. Having received federal status in 2023, the forum has become a pivotal platform for strengthening Russia’s international ties with member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), facilitating deeper economic and technological partnership.
