The second Tax in Tashkent international taxation competition took place in Tashkent, bringing together students from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Russia. Teams from the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy also participated.
The competition provides students of various specialties with a unique opportunity to engage in moot court proceedings, assuming the roles of plaintiffs and defendants. To excel, participants must thoroughly analyze tax legislation and judicial precedents from different jurisdictions, develop compelling legal arguments, and uphold the highest ethical standards to impress the judging panel.
The judicial panels comprised professors from Tashkent State University of Economics, representatives from the State Tax Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and experts from the International Taxation Directorate of the Federal Tax Service (FTS) of Russia.
"The FTS of Russia places great emphasis on fostering tax literacy and professional competence among students from the earliest stages of their education, as this ensures a high level of expertise among all professionals involved in the tax system — both on the side of taxpayers and tax authorities," stated Alexandra Kadet, Head of the International Taxation Directorate at the FTS of Russia.
For this reason, the InTax international taxation competition, organized by the FTS of Russia, has become a well-established platform for dialogue between industry experts and aspiring professionals, as well as a vital talent pipeline for the field. Its extension, the Tax in Tashkent competition, reinforces the expectation that the next generation of international tax specialists across the CIS will continue to develop in line with the highest professional standards.
