On 23 June, the Federal Tax Service of Russia held an online meeting of the BRICS Tax Support Network. Representatives of BRICS tax authorities discussed the BRICS Tax Knowledge Hub prototype and the draft Terms of Reference for the Network.

The BRICS Tax Knowledge Hub is intended to serve as a single entry point for taxpayers and foreign investors seeking official tax information, access to relevant digital services and communication channels with BRICS tax authorities. The prototype is structured around four thematic blocks: Starting Business, Taxes & Reporting, International Trade & Transactions, Closing Business.

The Russian side also presented possible approaches to improving the Hub’s usability, including summary tables with key country information and AI functionality capable of answering taxpayer questions on the basis of official information available through the platform.

Participants further discussed the draft Terms of Reference for the BRICS Tax Support Network. The document is designed as an operational framework for handling taxpayer queries and sets out the proposed approach to the legal status of the mechanism, scope of support, country reservations, confidentiality, tax secrecy, and data use and protection.

The tools discussed at the meeting are expected to be presented for further consideration at the BRICS Tax Heads and Experts Meeting in September.
